Eva’s Phoenix print training program starts Sept. 24

Toronto-based Eva’s Phoenix Print Shop is offering an eight-week training program – starting September 24 – that introduces youth to the pillars of the graphics industry.

Program organizers explain students will get hands-on experience working in the print shop as well as learning Adobe applications associated with graphic design.

The Eva’s Phoenix program aims to get homeless youth off the streets, and provides vocational and life skills. The Phoenix Print Shop, associated with the program, trains youth for the graphic arts field and is supported by numerous companies in the industry. The program was founded in 2000. Eva’s Phoenix provides housing for 50 youth, aged 16 to 24 years, for up to a full year, and since 2002 has also allowed up to 160 youth each year, aged 16 to 29 years, to participate in its employment and pre-apprenticeship programs.

The program is free and open to young adults between the ages of 16 and 29. Students are provided breakfast and a weekly $50 stipend.
