Judging Panel Finalized for Canadian Printing Awards
August 25, 2014 By PrintAction Staff
Eighteen printing-industry leaders are to come together in late-September to determine the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners, as well as Best of Show, in the 9th annual Canadian Printing Awards program.
Entry deadline for the 2014 program is Thursday, September 18.
Among the 18-member judging panel (listed below) for this year’s Canadian Printing Awards (CPAs), seven of the judges are returning for at least their third year. The panel was expanded by six members this year to handle the program’s continuing increase in entries and to also better evaluate new and expanded categories.
New categories for 2014 include Specialty Project, Cross Media Project and Specialty Effects, while the program also features expanded categories for processes like digital printing, wide-format, web offset, flexible and rigid packaging, and environmentally progressive printing.
CPAs judging is a blind process in which each panel member initially works independently to determine a score for a range of submissions per category. The score is based on four pieces of criteria: Design & Effectiveness, Production Challenge, Printing Defects and Overall Quality.
PrintAction then average the judges’ scores to determine Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in each category, awarding multiple winners when final scores are within a specific tolerance. The judging panel then votes on the Best of Show Award from each judge’s top selections.
The Canadian Printing Awards gala takes place on November 6, 2014, at the Toscana Conference Centre, Hilton Garden Inn, Vaughan, ON. To purchase tickets to the event, visit Printaction.com/CPA/tickets.
