UPM Raflatac launches paper face materials using recycled label waste
May 12, 2020 By PrintAction Staff
UPM Raflatac has launched Label to Label, the first range of paper face materials constructed from up to 30 per cent post-consumer waste (PCW), containing recycled label backing.
The product covering, which is now available in the Americas market, offers the company’s same standards of print quality and high-speed converting to create a high-quality semi-gloss face suited to a wide range of end uses.
The label liners are collected via the RafCycle by UPM Raflatac service and through other industry initiatives. They are de-siliconized and converted to raw PCW, at which time a raw materials supplier makes new paper label face stock from PCW containing recycled label fiber. This label face stock is then turned into the Label to Label product by UPM Raflatac.
“UPM Raflatac’s Label to Label is an easy way for converters and their customers to get the same high-quality materials they expect from us while at the same time embracing circular solutions and reducing the amount of virgin materials needed to produce label materials,” said Scott Conrad, segment manager of Prime Business, Paper Laminates at UPM Raflatac Americas.
