Chicago’s Bell Litho installs Kodak Nexfinity digital press
August 2, 2018 By PrintAction Staff
Bell Litho, a multi-generation family owned commercial printer based in Chicago, Ill., recently installed a Kodak Nexfinity Digital Press — the first Nexfinity press installation in the region, according to Kodak. The company’s installation includes a 48-inch long sheet feeder allowing for the production of larger format printed products and the standard Fifth Imaging Unit, which enables use of 10 different inks for special applications, gamut expansion, and multiple surface finishes.
“The installation of the Kodak Nexfinity Press equips us to offer our customers an even broader range of exciting new applications that will help them stand out. There are so many possibilities with the dimensional inks pallet and long sheet feeder,” says Phillip Bellagamba, Director, Bell Litho. “Simply put, the quality, variety and richness of the products we can produce from this new platform is spectacular.”
The Nexfinity Platform, Kodak explains, is designed to make it easy for printers to operate in a more dynamic print marketplace. It’s built with Dynamic Imaging Technology, a patented Kodak technology that applies algorithmic adjustments to specific areas of an image, helping to optimize image quality and consistency based on the image content in each area. Its LED writing system provides 256 levels of exposure on the imaging cylinder, Kodak says, explaining that it produces “crisp text, hard lines, soft skin tones and beautiful skies on the same page.”
