In a move to strengthen its presence in North America, Soma, a producer of flexographic printing presses, slitter rewinders and laminators, has established a new American division and appointed Garrett Taylor as its U.S. and Canada sales director.

In an April 3 statement, Soma – which is headquartered in the Czech Republic – said that the addition of Taylor, together with the establishment of Soma USA LLC, “is an important part of [its] long-term strategic plan to build the company’s operations in the U.S. and Canada.”

Taylor comes to Soma with nearly 25 years of experience in the printing and packaging industry, specifically with flexographic printing. Previously, he was vice president at AV Flexologic Americas, where he developed business for both mounters, as well as flexo sleeves. He has also been corporate accounts manager, equipment team lead at Anderson & Vreeland, where he serviced corporate accounts, expanding sales of the company’s products and services.

While at Rotec North America/Flint Group, he was regional sales manager representing sleeves and plates. He also spent time in customer service. Taylor began his career at PrintPack, working in the prepress/plate department.

“I am excited with the opportunity to build the Soma brand in the U.S. and Canada,” Taylor said. “Soma is an exceptional company with great, technically advanced products, and I look forward to assembling a strong organization and helping to make Soma a powerful name in North America and a reliable partner for our customers.“
