Ryerson’s Samir Macklai receives Warren Wilkins scholarship
March 5, 2021 By PrintAction Staff
Samir Macklai, a first-year Ryerson University (Toronto, Ont.) student, has been selected by the Canadian Print Scholarships to receive the Warren Wilkins Memorial Scholarship for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The prestigious $5,000 scholarship was established to honour the late Warren Wilkins, a visionary leader in the Canadian printing industry who worked to foster and support new talent for the industry. It is given to a student starting their post-secondary studies toward a career in the graphic communications industry.
“Samir is a first-year graphic communications management student who has caught everyone’s attention; no small achievement given that this school year we are distanced and delivering classes virtually,” said Tannisha Lambert, program manager for GCM at Ryerson University.
“The credit for this accomplishment is attributed to my professors and peers for their support and guidance throughout the whole process,” added Macklai.
The mission of The Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund (CPISTF) is to attract students to the graphic communications industry by providing financial assistance to enrol and continue in a post-secondary management or technical program at an approved institution.
