FPA releases sustainability report on circular economy
January 15, 2021 By PrintAction Staff
The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) has released its latest sustainability report, A Flexible Packaging Path to a Circular Economy. The report explores the future of sustainability and flexible packaging through 2030 and contains roadmaps that were developed to further sustainability and circular economy packaging efforts.
The FPA partnered with PTIS, LLC and Priority Metrics Group (PMG) on the report, which explores the future of sustainability and flexible packaging through 2030. It provides information related to flexible packaging and sustainability, circular economy, legislative trends, impacts to the industry, as well as key outcomes and actions that allow the industry to align with circular economy principles.
The FPA says the report also provides a holistic system view of flexible packaging and sustainability while employing the latest insights and foresight to develop strategies for FPA members, policymakers, NGOs, consumer product companies, consumers, local municipalities and other associations to help advance sustainability and circular economy packaging.
The report has a North American focus, but low flexible packaging recycling rates are a global issue, notes the FPA. However, there are additional efforts in other countries to address these concerns, particularly in Europe through organizations such as Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX) and the UK Plastics Pact.
