Smurfit Kappa, WestRock in merger talks

The Smurfit Kappa Group and WestRock Company are discussing the key terms of a potential merger that will create a global paper and packaging giant.

The merger would be expected to involve the creation of a new holding company, Smurfit WestRock, incorporated and domiciled in Ireland with global headquarters in Dublin, Ireland and North and South American operations headquartered in Atlanta, Ga.

Smurfit Kappa and WestRock are now engaged in a mutual due diligence process.
