Carbon Balanced Printer program launches in North America
October 10, 2023 By PrintAction Staff
Recently launched in North America, the Carbon Balanced Printer program offers partner printers the opportunity to carbon balance their paper and print services.
Members of the program measure their carbon footprint, then offset those emissions with World Land Trust to become a certified carbon-balanced printer.
In the U.K., the Carbon Balanced Printer program has been running since 2010 with over 70 printer partners.
The World Land Trust funds conservation areas for permanent protection for habitats and wildlife.
The Carbon Balanced Printer program currently funds four projects, including the purchase of land in the Nangaritza Valley of Ecuador to protect it from agricultural expansion and gold mining, and the preservation of the Khe Nuoc Trong forest in Central Vietnam.
“These projects are enabling these forests to recover and restore, as well as accrue the carbon benefits,” says Richard Cuthbert, director of conservation at WLT. “All of our projects are funded through donations. We don’t receive any government support, so it’s incredibly important that programs such as Carbon Balanced Printer continue their work to enable us to fund these incredible projects.”
